Man pounce on neighbour trip her to the ground before raping her

A man from Jambezi area in Hwange has been dragged to the court for allegedly tripping to the ground a woman and raping her.
Muhongo Nyoni (39) pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Hwange Regional Court magistrate Dambudzo Malunga.
The Court heard that on January 3 2015 at 8:30am the complainant (27) who cannot be named as she is a rape victim left her home going to visit her parents. On her way she met the accused who offered to accompany her but she refused. It is then that he allegedly followed her at a distance and on the way he proposed love top her but she refused. It is then that he grabbed her but she managed to get loose and tried to run away. Accused allegedly gave a chase and caught her before tripping her to the ground and raping her.
After the rape the woman went the accused's residence and informed his wife about the rape before telling her parents the following day. She was taken to Vuicto0ria Falls Hospital for examination and a report was made to the police leading to his arrest.
