HAVING had enough abuse from his girlfriend, a Mutare man approached the Civil Courts for protection.
Manica Post reported that Conrad Mutonga appeared before Mutare magistrate, Yeukai Chigodora, praying for the court's intervention to stop his girlfriend, Elizabeth Sande from visiting his workplace and homestead. Mutonga told the court that he no longer loved his girlfriend.
"Your Worship, I no longer love this woman because she is a well known loose woman. I am now afraid that I may die soon if I keep seeing this woman. I have parted ways with her and I am back together with my first wife at my matrimonial home. I pray that the court bares her from visiting my workplace and matrimonial home as I am contributing money for the upkeep of my child she has," he said.
Sande told the court that she was not accepting the separation since Mutonga did not formally divorce her.
"He never said anything to me, but he only stopped coming to our home. Since I was worried with the whereabouts of my husband, I visited him at his workplace to verify. I also told him that the money for maintenance was not enough since he was no longer coming with other items."
She denied ever visiting Mutonga's matrimonial home or acting violently.
Mutonga dismissed her story and told the court that Sande was a thorn in his flesh since she was threatening him with unspecified action.
"Your Worship, if you fail to help me on this matter, I fear that my life will be in danger. She told me that she knows a well known sangoma in Mhondoro and she is going to do anything to destroy my life," he said.
Sande fumed.
"This man made me to divorce my first husband. When I fell in love with Mutonga I was married, but I was in an abusive marriage.
"My husband used to harass and assault me and Mutonga promised me heaven on earth. I can't let him go because he is the reason why I left my abusive marriage," she said.
Chigodora granted the order in favour of Mutonga and ordered Sande to stop visiting her ex-husband.
