A Political commentator and ZimPF official Methuseli Moyo has described the letter of apology written by former War Veterans Minister Christopher Mutsvangwa to President Robert Mugabe as a ploy by the Lacoste faction believed to be led by Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa to keep him in Zanu PF.
Mutsvangwa is said to have written a letter apologising to Mugabe and asking him to find in his heart a place to accommodate and forgive him.
"I see Chris Mutsvangwa's blasphemous letter of apology to Mugabe as nothing but a strategy by Team Lacoste to keep him in the party," Moyo said.
"Mugabe's people know the kind of words he likes to hear, and the letter was made apt to his ears."
He said clearly, Mutsvangwa is Team Locoste's hardman and they want the "red card" rescinded.
"My view is that Mugabe will take him back, but keep him under lock and key in some peripheral capacity. That will be fine for Team Lacoste because Chris will be within "firing range" should push-come-to-shove in the likely event of Mugabe going sooner than 2018," Moyo said.
