Poachers have shot and injured a rhino in Matobo National Park leaving it with serious injuries.
ZBC reported that Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesperson Caroline Washaya-Moyo has confirmed the incident.
Attempts by veterinary officers from Aware and Dambari Trusts to revive the rhino failed after x-ray results revealed that the rhino had been severely wounded with open wounds on legs and shoulder.
Further examinations of the x-rays also showed the rhino had AK bullet heads in three of her legs forcing Aware Trust vets to put the animal to sleep but Zimparks rangers recovered all the her horns.
The Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has appealed for assistance to help fight poaching in the country.
