Bulawayo residents on Thursday took to the stress in a peaceful demonstration against Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA). The demonstration was organised by the Bulawayo Residents Association chaired by Reason Ngwenya and the Organising Secretary being Ambrose Sibindi.
Their concerns as an Association were that Zesa should cancel the bills as they were unjustified and they also highlighted as one of their resolution strategy that Bulawayo should be given back its power station 'Intuthu ezithunqayo'.
This was a first of its kind demo to be staged against as the demonstrators were escorted by police officers.
The organising Secretary started by saying that the march was cleared and people should feel at home during the march.
When the demonstrators arrived at Zesa Power Station offices, Zesa workers had already closed themselves into the offices.
From Zesa offices, the demonstrators proceeded Zesa offices in the CBD where Reason Ngwenya addressed them. He gave a serious warning to other service providers to either shape up or face the music.
