A DANGAMVURA man will regret the day he decided to rape his daughter after he was slapped with a four-year jail term last week.

Manica Post reported that Isaac Chitauro (40) was convicted on his own plea of guilty when he appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Sekai Chiundura. Chitauro was sentenced to five years imprisonment of which one year was suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.

He was left to serve four years.Asked why he committed the offence, Chitauro told the court that he was playing with the child with no intention of harming or raping her.

"Your Worship, I don't know what come to my mind. I was playing with her and ended up inserting my manhood into her private parts. At that moment my wife was at work."

In passing her sentence, chiundura said: "You committed a serious offence. These cases are on the increase, hence there is need to pass a deterrent sentence.

"You were supposed to protect the child, but you abused her hence you deserve to be incarcerated."

The court heard that on April 2, Chitauro instructed the juvenile to spread the bed in the spare bedroom.

While the juvenile was busy spreading, Chitauro pushed the juvenile and she fell facing downwards.

Karombe said: "Chitauro threatened the child not to cry for help.

He quickly pulled the minor's dress and tried to rape her. The minor bit his father on his right hand and locked herself in the bathroom."

The girl unlocked the bathroom after her mother returned from work, but she never said anything to her.

The following morning the girl wrote everything that had happened on a piece of paper and handed it to her mother who opened it later after attending church.

A police report was made leading to his arrest.
