The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) yesterday launched its website, a development they could have made some years back.
According to the state media the website is expected to increase members of the public's involvement in combating crime.
ZRP Commissioner - Administration, Dr Eric Magejo, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner General, Dr Augustine Chihuri, said traditional tools of policing such as suggestion boxes have been overtaken by technological developments, hence the launch of the website.
"Criminals on the other hand are never waiting for us as police to be in touch with these developments, but are manipulating every available opportunity to utilise the virtual and extra-territorial nature of cyber-space to render us effective in discharging our mandate," he said.
The website, www.zrp.gov.zw gives information on wanted persons, accessing police services, handling of complaints as well as giving information on various police units on their activities.
