Love proposal lands teacher in trouble

A SHERUKURU High School teacher in Mutasa was recently suspended for proposing love to a 16-year-old pupil at the school.
Manica Post reported that Tonderai Nyamangodo, a History teacher who was temporarily relieved of his duties for improper association with a minor is awaiting hearing.
Mutasa District Education Officer, Zacharia Chikwangani, confirmed the development.
"Yes, I can confirm that Tonderai Nyamangondo was charged and suspended for improper association with a minor. The Manicaland provincial office will in the near future avail dates for his hearing," he said.
The matter was brought to light after someone wrote an anonymous letter to the district offices.
The teenager, according to her mother (name withheld), turned down the love proposal and revealed the matter to her grandmother. After the incident which happened sometime last term, the girl who is doing Form Four dropped the History subject which Nyamangodo teaches.
"She told me that Nyamangodo proposed love to her, but she turned him down. My daughter could not continue studying History because of the tension between the two. Nyamangodo admitted proposing love to her and asked for forgiveness, but I found the whole matter disturbing," she said in an interview.
