Taxi driver duped

A man from Makokoba hired a taxi driver Makokoba to Sizinda where on arrival he jumped out of the taxi and ran away without paying for the journey.
This was heard by Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya when Tinotenda Makowo appeared before him.
The magistrate convicted and sentenced him to 30 days in jail with an option of $60 fine. In addition he was sentenced to 30 days suspended on condition he restituted the complainant $20.
The court heard that on April 9 2016 at 3:30pm Makowo hired Mutimiri Desire of James Court in Bulawayo who is a Taxi driver to take him from Sizinda to Makokoba. He drove him at Makokoba he was supposed to pay $20 but he bolted out of the taxi and ran away without paying.
The complainant looked for him to no avail and reported the matter to the police. He was later arrested.
