Nkulumane MP Killian Sibanda yesterday claimed that his baby mama was ungrateful as he once gave her money to start a business but nothing came out of it.
Achiwangani Maseko turned down Sibanda's offer of $80 maintenance in her application for an upward variation from $40 that she is getting.
Maseko, who had applied for the amount to be increased to $237, told magistrate Manasa Musiiwa that Sibanda had three payslips and so could afford to pay the requested amount.
Sibanda disputed the allegation, saying he had one payslip that he had tendered to the court.
"Your worship I can't afford the money she is asking for. The only payslip I have is the one I have tendered before this court.
I earn $239 that's why I am offering $80. For the sake of my child I have sacrificed to raise the money. I'm not a cruel person I just don't have enough money," said Sibanda.
He added that he once gave her $500 so that she could start a business of her own and be able to cater for the child's expenses.
"Your worship I shouldn't be here entertaining her at all because we had agreed that the money I gave her would help her start her own business and take care of our child.
The only reason is because I have a heart for her and I want the best for my child."
Magistrate Musiiwa will rule on Maseko's application next week.
