Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has savaged Chiredzi war veterans and youths whom he accused of trying to benefit from every project embarked upon by Government at the detriment of the masses.
"The war was waged for the benefit of masses not war veterans only," said Mnangagwa.
He said Government will act against any war veterans and youths who try to sabotage its programs and went on to warn them that Government will not hesitate to send such culprits to jail as it is criminal.
Masvingo Mirror Reported that Mnangagwa speaking during the tour of Arda Nandi agricultural projects,he said war veterans should not always raise the war vet flag for them to grab everything and reminded them that they went to war for the masses.
He said they should not expect to benefit from everything but should respect Government initiatives.
"I heard the concerns raised by the local war veterans and youths. We are no longer raising a war veterans' flag. We went to war to liberate every Zimbabwean and that is what Mayor Urimbo taught us during the war so this mentality of selfishness should cease forthwith. Don't look at land which was given to other people and say we were supposed to benefit.
"The youths said here that they wanted to grab Nandi Estates and I am asking them where they got such powers from. Do you know that this is State property and let me remind you that Chikurubi is not full and it still needs more inmates? You will be arrested and jailed if you go against Government programmes. You should apply and follow procedures for you to benefit not grab," said Mnangagwa.
Mangangagwa`s remarks came after Chiredzi District Liberation War Veterans Association Chairman Killer Makuni and Zanu PF youth member Liniel Moyo said they are against a public private partnership entered between Arda and Mangwa Quip at Nandi.
They said they wanted to grab the farm for their own use but were not given an opportunity to do so by Government officials.
