The school head for Makwasha Primary School in Zvishavane, Tapiwa Majange (54) has appeared in court facing three counts of fraud involving $11 418.

He appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate Peter Madiba.

Masvingo Mirror reported that it is the State's case that during the period between January 1, 2014 and September 7, 2015 Majange made a misrepresentation that an audit fee of $500 had been paid from the school funds for audit purposes.

It however later turned out that there was no audit done at the school during the period.

During the same period, Majange made a withdrawal of cash amounting to $4 095 from the school FBC bank account. The money was not allegedly accounted for and there was no explanation of how it was spent.

Majange is also alleged to have made an under-banking during the same period but on a date not stated to the prosecutor. On this particular day Majange made an under banking of cash amounting to $6 823 in Makwasha Primary School FBC bank account.

All the three offences were discovered during an audit carried by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education leading to the arrest of the accused. Majange was remanded in custody by Madiba to April 28, 2016 for trail. Stanley Ncube prosecuted.
