AFTER having had enough of his ex-wife's threats, a Mutare man approached the civil courts for a protection order against her. He described her as violent and abusive.

Manica Post reported that Farai Mabvuragudo appeared before Yeukai Chigodora for a protection order against Dambudziko Chimbwanda.Mabvuragudo told the court that Chimbwanda was disturbing his peace after he had parted ways with her.

"This woman is disturbing my peace with my new lover Your Worship. She always visits my place of residence demanding money, yet she is no longer my wife.

"She told me after I divorced her that her brothers will assault me and I am living in fear. She has been phoning me threatening to kill me. We were married from October 2014 and what surprised me was that she gave birth to our first born in March 2015 and I wonder if that child is mine because a normal child cannot be born within a period of six months.

"She comes to my house during the wee hours with the baby and I want her barred from coming to my house," said Mabvuragudo.

Chimbwanda thowever, disputed that they were divorced.

"This man is a liar Your Worship. He married me in October 2011 and paid my bride price. I am surprised to hear in this court that we are divorced. He is having an extra-marital affair.

"I visit him because I need money for rentals and food. If I phone him he doesn't answer and that is why I visit him," she said.

Mabvuragudo denied ever paying any bride price to Chimbwanda.

"I never paid her bride price. I am tired of this noisy and violent woman. I now needs the law to protect me," said Mabvuragudo.

Chigodora granted the protection order in favour of Mabvuragudo, saying he was entitled to his peace.

"You are barred from visiting your husband, but I would advise you to file an application order for maintenance. You are also ordered not to disturb his peace in any way because failure to comply with the order, you risk being imprisoned," said Chigodora.
