A MUTARE woman who was facing abuse at the hands of her co-wife's sister approached the Civil Courts last week praying for protection.

Manica Post reported that Adlight Kuretu appeared before Mutare magistrate, Yeukai Chigodora seeking protection against Tsitsi Zimunya whom she described as a violent woman.Kuretu told the court that Zimunya was always frequenting her house to disturb her peace.

"I am the second wife of her sister's husband. She always visits me shouting on top of her voice that I am a woman of loose morals and a husband snatcher.

"On April 16, she came to my place and threatened to assault and stab me with a knife. We stay together with her sister. I managed to escape from the house and sought refuge at my neighbour's house, but she followed me. My neighbour is the one who restrained her from stabbing me, but she vowed to stab me whenever we meet. I am now living in fear and I need the law to protect me," said Kuretu.

Zimunya told the court that Kuretu was telling lies.

"She is just fabricating stories to fix me because I never attempted to stab her with a knife as she alleges. I went to her place of residence to inquire about my sister's whereabouts since they stay together.

"She is the one who started shouting at me, saying I am troublesome, but I ignored her after I discovered that my sister was not around," she said.

Chigodora granted the protection order which bars Zimunya from doing any acts of violence against Kuretu.
