Chivhu pupil breaks into office to steal exam papers

A former pupil at Mhari High School in Chikomba Prosper Zisadza (22) has appeared at Chivhu Magistrates court where he facing charges of unlawful entry into the headmaster's office and opening A Level examination question papers.
Masvingo Mirror said Zisadza appeared before Magistrate Winfilda Tiyatara and pleaded not guilty to one of the three counts that he is facing.
It is the State case that on count one, on a date unknown to the prosecutor but between November 8 and 12, 2015, Zisadza used duplicate keys to enter into the headmaster's office. He wanted to gain access to the 2015 Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) Advanced Level (A-Level) Geography Paper 2 that had not yet been sat for.
Zisadza was then an A-Level student who was yet to sit for the ZIMSEC Geography exam on November 18 2015.
He allegedly copied the questions of the Geography paper and left the office. In his defence, Zisadza told the court that he did not unlawfully enter the headmaster's office but was given permission by the headmaster of the school, Goodwell Manyame, whom he alleges is his uncle.
"Your worship, I told my uncle, Goodwell Manyame, that the examinations were very hard that I could not pass. He told me not worry and gave me a set of keys to his office so that I could get access to the ZIMSEC papers that we were yet to write," said Zisadza.
However, Manyame, who stood as a State witness denied being related to Zisadza. He said he never gave any keys to Zisadza, neither did he permit him to enter his office.
Zisadza told the court that he was supposed to return the keys to Manyame but he failed because Manyame had been suspended from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education over the leaking ZIMSEC examination papers.
On count two, Zisadza unlawfully entered the headmaster's office using duplicate keys intending to recover his A-Level results that had been withheld by ZIMSEC because investigations of the leaked ZIMSEC examination papers at the school were still pending.
He was caught by the school security guard whilst in the office and the duplicate keys were recovered.
On count three, Zisadza escaped from a school hut in which he was kept in police custody by the school security guard who is member of the police neighbourhood watch committee, after he had been arrested for unlawful entry on count two.
Manyame appeared in court late in December 2015 facing two counts of unlawfully opening the ZIMSEC examination papers that were yet to be written.
The case was withdrawn before he was asked to plead after the State witnesses, one of them who was Zisadza, could not adhere to their initial testimonies.
Magistrate Tiyatara remanded Zisadza to May 12, 2016 for continuation of trial.
