$40 million not for Bulawayo companies only

THE US$40 million availed by Government under the Distressed Industries and Marginalized Fund is not meant for Bulawayo companies alone but also firms in other cities facing the same problems, a senior Government official has said.
Deputy Minister for Industry and Commerce told journalists in Victoria Falls that Bulawayo's problems were "not peculiar" to the city but affected other areas nationwide.
"That Cabinet Committee was tasked to look at the problems affecting the whole country but they have only finished Bulawayo. They are now looking at other cities to look at how companies there can also access the money," he said.
The US$40 million is ironically a product of the 'Save Bulawayo Campaign.'
Confusion and infighting has delayed the disbursement of the money to its intended beneficiaries.
Last week, the secretary general of the Movement for Democratic Change formation led by Professor Welshman Ncube, Ms Priscilla Musihairabwi Mushonga said there was war in Cabinet over the fund and also that some Cabinet ministers are against the whole initiative.
She however did not reveal the names of the minister's concerned.
