Prof Ncube responsible for all Bulawayo problems – Mathema

THE Governor and Resident Minister of Bulawayo province Ambassador Cain Ginyilitshe Mathema has accused Professor Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti for causing all problems in the city.
Commenting on the recent shocking Government U-Turn on the US$40 million for Distressed and Marginalized companies, which is said to be not for the city alone but a nationwide fund, a livid Mathema said:
"I blame it Biti (sic), Welshman and the MDC guys for Bulawayo's problems, they brought problems through sanctions and now they pretend to want to solve them by bringing more complications.
"We cannot share this money among all distressed companies in Zimbabwe…..we cannot have this.
Already the US$40 million is not enough, how then it can be distributed amongst distressed companies in the country. Bulawayo alone needs at least US$100 million to get the companies on the feet," he said.
Prof Ncube (Industry and Commerce Minister) is the president of the Movement for Democratic Change whereas Tendai Biti (Finance Minister) is the secretary general of the MDC formation led by Prime Minister Mr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.
Prof Ncube's MDC has openly denounced sanctions and called for their removal whereas PM Tsvangirai's formation has denied that they sanctions in Zimbabwe, choosing to say there are "restrictive measures" targeted at specific companies and Zanu PF functionaries.
European and American countries that imposed sanctions in Zimbabwe after a chaotic land redistribution program in 2000, have insisted that conditions have not improved to necessitate their (sanctions) scarping.
Ambassador Mathema is a Zanu PF central committee member.
