Dull man asks friend to write exam for him

AN academically challenged 48 year old hired his friend to write an English Ordinary level examination for him.
Bhekinkosi Ndlovu of 28 Cecil Avenue, Hillside had reportedly written English Language Ordinary Level examinations but failed, until he decided to hire his friend Elias Ncube (46) of House Number 167 Kerry Road, Kumalo, to sit the exam for him.
Appearing before Miss Marylin Mutshina at the Bulawayo Tredgold Court after their arrest at Baines Primary school where Ncube was caught busy writing the Queen's language – the two buddies were charged with contravening Section 35(d) of the Zimbabwe School examinations Council (Zimsec) Act of 1994.
The duo was convicted on its own plea of guilt and sentenced to pay a fine of US$200 or spend two months in jail.
They were given up to the end of the month to pay the fine.
The state case against them as put by the prosecutor – Miss Paida Zengeni was that on Tuesday last week at Baines Junior, Ncube sat for the English examination paper on behalf of Mafu at 830am.
The duo, who are both unemployed, met sometime in February this year at Thandi restaurant where they hatched a pan to assist each other write the examination.
Ncube agreed to write the English language paper on behalf of Mafu who had attempted it several times but failed to make a grade.
The court heard that they both went to Baines on 1 November where Ncube wrote for Mafu.
However, when an invigilator was re-checking candidates particulars he discovered that Ncube was carrying a statement of entry belonging to Mafu.
Ncube told the Court that he was a genius and had attained 14 points at Advanced Level examinations years back and wanted to assist his friend to pass as well.
Mafu testified that he was desperate for a job and only wanted an English language pas to make it in life.
