A Nkulumane 5 man in Bulawayo has been nabbed after he used a $100 note to buy clothing from a vendor at Egodini Flea Market leading to him being searched and found in possession of $400 fake notes.
Khulekani Sibanda (32) pleaded not guilty to the charge of fraud and possession of fake money when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure.
The magistrate remanded out of custody on $50 bail to June 3.
The court heard that on May 25 2016 at 4:45pm Rosemary Mujuru was selling her wares at Egodini Flea market when Sibanda arrived and bought clothing worth $60 using a $100 note. It is alleged that Mujuru discovered that the money was fake and there was an argument between the two which attracted a police officer Josphat Chimwango who was on duty.
Chimwango later searched Sibanda and found in his pocket other three $100 notes leading to his arrest.
