Bulawayo City Council has embarked in a move to replace numerous traffic signs in the city.
This is revealed in the latest council minutes.
"During the month of April, the number of traffic and street name signs replaced was 84. The majority of signs replaced were Street Name signs and Give way signs. In the previous month, 72 traffic and street signs were replaced," reads the report.
"The 107 Directional signs which were awarded to Water print Investments (Pvt) (Ltd), have been erected at various locations city wide. A new list of hump requests had been compiled and was detailed in the table below."
The minutes states that there was no specific team which was dedicated to hump erection.
"Teams had to switch from pothole patching and general maintenance to do this activity. Faced with this scenario of manpower shortage the Section could only manage to do a very limited number of hump sites per month. In a majority of cases section was forced to redo most of the sites due to lack of surfacing material, which was aggravating the situation," reads the report.
