THE Bulawayo Pool Association is set to hold an awards ceremony for its teams in December, an official has revealed.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Fast Cash Social and Recreation club pool singles tournament at the weekend, the BPA publicity officer Patrick Chinake said plans are at an advanced stage to hold the ceremony as well as BPA annual general meeting.
"Last year we did not have an awards ceremony due to financial constraints however this year things are different and we will definitely have the awards and our annual general meeting in December," said Chinake.
Chinake said the awards will reward only the top five teams in the league. He added that the league was in the process of engaging a sponsor to top up the prizes.
"We are going to honour the top five performing teams in the league with the best club getting a prize money of $500. At the moment we are talking to a sponsor with a view of increasing this prize money," he said.
Chinake further said that the league will play double headers up to the end of the season.
The league has six games left.
The publicity officer also announced that the term for the current executive is set to end in December and that members wishing to stand for election are free to start campaigning.
"The tenure for the current executive ends in December this year and we will hold an AGM to elect a new executive. Members are therefore called upon to start canvassing for support as all posts will be up for grabs," he said.
Chinake said all 24 clubs will take part in the election and each club will be allowed to be represented by 3 members who will have voting rights.
