Dagga plantation owner gets six months in jail

A man from Nkayi who was found with a plantation of eleven plants of mbanje (dragga/cannabis) has been slapped with a six months jail term.
Lovemore Ndebele (52) pleaded guilty to cultivating mbanje when he appeared before Nkayi magistrate Victor Mpofu.
The magistrate convicted and sentenced him to 12 months in jail.
Six months were suspended for three years on condition of good behaviour.
The court was told that on May 15 2016 police officers were on patrol in the Denge Line when they were tipped that Ndebele was cultivating mbanje.
They raided his home and he led them to his garden when they recovered eleven plants of the dagga.
This led to his arrest.
