Terror robbers nabbed

Two Gutu robbers who were armed with knives and had terrorized areas around Chisheche Business Centre and Gutu Mission breaking into houses and shops were nabbed by villagers last week and handed over to the Police after breaking into more than 11 houses inside two weeks.

According to Masvingo Mirror, they stole anything from money, green meals, goats, chicken, solar panels and cellphones. They also broke into kitchens and helped themselves to whatever food they found there.

Leonard Mangena from Ngungunyane Village in Gudza under Chief Mazuru, Gutu, and Wonder Run'anga from Makore village, headman Chisvino, Chief Gutu  appeared in court on Monday this week.

Mangena pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared in court and was slapped with 51 months in prison. He will serve an effective 48 months provided he pays restitution to those whose property he sold.

Run'anga pleaded not guilty and will appear in court again on June 29. He is remanded in custody.

The two were caught on Wednesday last week by villagers from Jeremiah and Run'anga villages.

Jeremiah Sanangurai from Jeremiah village told The Mirror of the terror that the robbers caused to the village.

The two were caught at Shadreck Marufu's house which is in Dambwara village.
