In Pumula South and Old Pumula schools, clinics and shops are closed.
Residents are blocking any commuter omnibus seen loading passengers.
Residents have since barricaded the roads using stones which according to State Security minister Kembo Mohadi is "unlike Zimbabwean" protesters.
At Tashas Shopping centre EMganwini, shops are closed.
Along Luveve road, Makokoba area near Engen garage, the road is blocked, tyres burning.
Police are said to be just watching.
School children have been sent back home while other schools like St Bernard's in Pumula suburb locked its gates.
Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko run Choppies Shops are open, and in some places guarded by police officers.
Also in Gweru, Choppies Supermarket in the CBD is guarded by police.
