The government says it has no intention to ban or throttle social media but has called on Zimbabweans to be responsible in the way they conduct themselves on social media platforms.
Information, Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister Supa Mandiwanzira says contrary to public opinion that the government intends to ban or throttle social media, his ministry has no such intentions.
He said since last year government has been resisting the banning of social networks such as Viber, WhatsApp and Skype despite incessant calls by telecommunications organisations that these social media platforms were eating into their revenue collections.
