The MDC proportional representation Legislator Priscila Misihairabwi-Mushonga has passionately appealed FOR THE Zimbabweans to contribute towards the bail money for about 54 Bulawayo residents who were arrested during the July 6 shut down protest as it emerged that most of them were failing to raise $80 bail each.
She said she was really touched by the masses at Harare court when Pastor Evan Mawarire of #ThisFlag appeared in court on Wednesday.
"I however would like to raise this issue, that we don't focus just on Evan but on the other people too, who were brutalized last Wednesday and are in jail, who can't raise bail money. In Bulawayo 54 people including women and children can't raise bail of $80 each and GOD knows what is happening to them," she said.
"This is a particularly sensitive issue for the region with the Gukurahundi scars where as women and children were butchered the world watched in silence, only to speak out when whites were being beaten and killed during the land chaos. If we are to be united in this struggle support of those who are suffering under this regime should know no race, tribe, class or gender. Those who can assist can inbox me and I will refer you to the civic group coordinating the support."
Mawarire was later released and all charges were dropped.
