A MAN from Bulawayo who says he's fed up with his 25-year-old daughter and her 61-year-old boyfriend co-habiting in his house, has dragged the man to court seeking an eviction order.

Eugene Moyo (60) is seeking an eviction order for Isiah Moyo who is having a relationship with his daughter Lorraine Nozipho Moyo.

Eugene said he was disgusted that his daughter insisted on living with a man who is more than twice her age and older than her father.

He said the two could be related because they share the same surname. If they want to have a relationship, Eugene said, they should do it at their own house. Western Commonage magistrate Mr Abednico Ndebele yesterday granted the application for eviction.

The court heard that Isiah has been living with Lorraine since 2014. He told the court it was unfair for him to be thrown out because he was looking after his girlfriend and her child. "I haven't given her a child of mine yet but I look after her and her child using money I earn from fixing watches in town. If you throw me out they won't have anyone to look after them," said Isiah.

Lorraine vehemently opposed the order, claiming that the house was given to her by her late grandmother. She proclaimed her undying love for the older man in court. "It's unfair for my father to chase my boyfriend from the house. The rooms that I'm using right now were allocated to me so I'm entitled to have any visitors who are welcome to stay for as long as they please," said Lorraine.

"I don't know what my father wants me to do because my boyfriend tried to talk to him about lobola negotiations and he dismissed him." Magistrate Ndebele said Eugene should register the house so that it can be clarified who should have ownership of the property.

"In the meantime, Isiah you have to leave that house and find somewhere to stay. If you really love the young girl then you have to send a delegation to your in-laws and ask for her hand in marriage," he said.

"As for you Eugene, it's unfortunate that your daughter couldn't find herself a younger man. It seems she has found great comfort in the company of a man older than you so if they want to marry its best you accept their decision," said Mr Ndebele.

Lorraine is no stranger to the courts. She is performing community service after Western Commonage Magistrate Tancy Dube convicted her for violating a protection order granted by the High court in May. Lorraine had insulted her family members, calling them idiots after her father had asked her to chase her boyfriend from home.
