THE leader of the Movement for Democratic Change, Professor Welshman Ncube has said his party is not in existence for the purpose of forming coalitions with any other party or person but for the purpose of getting political power in Zimbabwe.
Addressing a rally in Nketa on Sunday last week, Prof Ncube in a speech uncharacteristic of him, said he was "sick, tired and bored" by people and the media which continues to peddle a lie that his insulting or saying the truth about Prime Minister Mr Morgan Tsvangirai was undermining the possibility of the two MDC formations forming a coalition force against President Robert Mugabe's Zanu PF in the oncoming elections.
The livid, law lecturer - cum - politician said, "This party does not does not exist for the purposes of forming a coalition with MDC T and Morgan Tsvangirai.
"This party does not exist to support Tsvangirai and MDC T. This party only exists for competing for political power in Zimbabwe, for placing itself before the people of Zimbabwe and saying we have we have the best agenda, the best policies and the best man power to do the job that needs to be done," said Prof Ncube before a crowd of more than 800 MDC supporters.
He added, "So forget about your dreams of seeing us existing for a coalition, no no and no. So dont start and keep writing saying what Ncube is saying undermines the possibility of a coalition, we are not looking for a coalition and you must understand that," he said.
Prof also told his supporters that PM Tsvangirai was not his ally but was a political competitor.
"We are all competitors,we will continue to put them in the mirror and say look at MDC T, loot at Zanu PF," he said before taking a swipe at journalists who he accused of "fiction writing" about the possibility of a united MDC against Zanu PF.
Civic society organisation and some sections of the media have been peddling a story to the effect that the two MDC formations are closer to uniting against President Mugabe's Zanu PF.
