Zanu PF MP's brother in court for leading stay away

James Matuke (38) who is understood to be a brother of Zanu PF Politburo member, Lovemore Matuke was last week arrested and detained for allegedly participating in a violent political stay away against Government.
Matuke and Philimon Mhike (28) both from Muguhu Village under Chief Nyamande appeared before Magistrate Edwin Marecha on July 11, 2016 charged for participating in a violent political demonstration.
The court heard that Mhike, Matuke and other protesters barricaded the highway obstructing vehicles with passengers from passing through.
It is the State case that on July 6, at around 8 am, the two were noticed by Constable John Hamutoni who was coming from Botswana participating in a demonstration at Mushayavanhu Business Centre about nine kilometres from Mpandawana Growth Point.
They allegedly forced the later to drop off eight passengers including two handcuffed people.
A report was made to Police Support Unit which led to the arrest of the two at the scene.
Matuke and Mhike were granted a bail of U$100 each and remanded to July 29, 2016.
