A MAN lost a chunk of his right ear after a rival bit him during a fight over a customer.

The incident occurred outside Davis Granite premises in Kelvin North industrial site on Friday last week.

It is reported that on the day in question, the man, Jefter Jongani, who owns a truck, was tasked to deliver a load of quarry stone to a house in the Nkulumane surbab.

On his way out of the premises, three men, namely Khumbulani Sibanda, Mandla Ncube and Sijabuliso Sibanda of House Numbers 14083 Pumula South, 58046/1 and 8/256 Mpopoma respectively, jumped onto the road.

The trio is said to have blocked his way and demanded that he goes back and offload the quarry stone as he had 'stolen' their customer.

They went on to threaten him with violence if he resisted.

Jongani would not give in to their threats and told them to go to hell.

This infuriated the three and one of them opened the driver's door and pulled out Jongani.

Jongani fell to the ground.

This gave the three the opportunity to beat up the hapless Jongani.

In an effort to defend himself, Jongani grabbed on of the man's privates leaving him screaming in agony.

The other two continued to assault Jongani so that he would let go of their friend.

To their surprise he was unfazed with the assault.

One of the assailants is alleged to have pulled out a knife but was disarmed by an alert onlooker.

Noticing that Jongani would not let go of their friend's privates, Ncube is alleged to have bitten off a chunk of the man's ear.

The plan paid dividend as Jongeni finally let go.

The man was taken to hospita; by a Good Samaritan and later made a report to police leading to the arrest of the three.

The trio were arraigned before Western Commonage magistrate, Sherperd Mjanja, facing an assault charge.

They were remanded in custody.
