EFFORTS to raise funds for the forthcoming Zanu-PF National People's Conference in Bulawayo have gathered momentum with the revolutionary party expected to hold a national fundraising dinner tonight.
The fundraising dinner, to be held at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, will be hosted by the party's National Fundraising Committee.
The conference runs from December 6 to 10. The committee's chairman, Noah Mangondo, yesterday said:
"We have fundraising activities that happened in various provinces and we are set to host the national fundraising dinner tomorrow (today) at the HICC. This provides a platform for those wishing to partner with Zanu-PF to come forward and participate for the successful hosting of the Annual National People's Conference," he said.
"The dinner will start at 6pm and we are calling on various sponsors to assist either in cash or kind. There are various benefits that are going to come up with participating in the dinner dance.
"You don't have to necessarily attend to donate. Even if you are not there your contribution will be greatly appreciated.
"We have lined up entertainment and we have big names such as Suluman Chimbetu and Mbare Chimurenga Choir who will be performing at the dinner dance."
He said the fundraising exercise was progressing well. Mangondo could, however, not reveal the amount raised for the conference nationally so far.
"We have made good progress and companies and individuals have responded generously. We hope by the time we go for the conference everything will be in place," he said.
Mangondo urged people and companies to continue extending a hand to the revolutionary party.
"No donation is too big nor too small and I urge people to donate in cash and kind. We appreciate any services that may help where there is a big event like a conference," he said.
Each of the 10 administrative provinces were given a target of US$150 000.
