PROGRESSIVE Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary-general Raymond Majongwe has made an appeal to Government to sell off new Zimbabwe Republic Police new patrol vehicles and channel the money to education.

Majongwe said parents are struggling to pay school fees.

"School starts tomorrow. Parents have no money. Teachers are worse of. Will any teaching really take place? Sell all those Police cars please" Majongwe wrote on his official twitter account.

Several haulage trucks were spotted recently transporting new traffic vehicles.

Schools continue to defy government directive which forbids schools from sending pupils away for non-payment of fees, but should deal with parents.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Lazarus Dokora has previously said it is illegal for schools to take parents who default paying school fees to debt collectors.

He said if schools decide to take the legal route to recover outstanding fees, they should approach the Small Claims Court, and not debt collectors.
