Bulawayo kick starts budget consultations

BULAWAYO City Council has began its 2017 budget consultations with various stakeholders in the city.
In a brief note, acting town clerk Sikhangele Zhou said "Industry and Commerce, Civil Society Organizations, Bulawayo informal traders, Media, Political parties, Transport operators, Residents Associations, and other stakeholders.
"These meetings will be facilitated by Ward Councilors The aim of the consultation meetings is to review 2016 Budget and present 2017 Budget".
Last year, Bulawayo submitted a 'stand-still' $153 million budget for 2016 of which $40 million of which it was projected to be channeled to salaries.
However, Local Government, Public Service and National Housing Ministry ordered the city to re-work the budget.
