A man from Bulawayo's Pelandaba suburbs is in trouble after he allegedly smuggled goods worth $200 from Botswana.
Wisdom Shumba (23) was not asked to plead to smuggling when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa on Tuesday. He was remanded out of custody to September 30.
The court heard that on September 8 this year the detectives from the Minerals and Border Control Unit in Bulawayo received a tip off that Shumba smuggled some goods from Botswana into Zimbabwe through the Plumtree border post.
They intercepted him while abode a Harare bound PCJ Travel Tours bus. On searching his luggage they discovered that he had several electrical goods and they asked him to produce declaration forms but he failed. He was arrested and the goods were confiscated.
