Presidential spokesperson George Charamba has revealed that under fire Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo was never allowed to be close to the Information, Media and Broadcasting Services finances.
That was when Moyo was Information minister, Charamba said.
Charamba who has a love and hate relationship with Moyo said the minister in relation to Zimdef fraud allegations should carry his own cross.
"If Minister Moyo has his own crosses to carry elsewhere, let him do so but certainly in respect of Information Ministry, he walked the straight and narrow.
"It was not possible for him to breach rules because he was never allowed to be close to the financial rules of the Ministry" he said.
On Wednesday last week, Moyo appeared in court on Zimdef fraud accusations but begged the magistrate for more time to get his papers in order.
Moyo is accused of benefitting from close to $270 000 which was corruptly syphoned out of Zimdef by ministry and fund official.
Part of the money was used to procure bicycles for chiefs in Tsholotsho.
