Mvurwi Residents Association has denounced the town council and ZINWA for violating their human rights, at a constitutional awareness meeting on Socio Economic Rights at Salvation Army church in Mvurwi today (Tuesday).
Speaking to Bulawayo24.com the community engagement officer Ruben Akili said citizens raised concern over the violation of human rights by the two local authorities and there is need to engage them so as to curb such trend.
"Mvurwi residents are demanding transparency and accountability in the running of Mvurwi town council on issues such as the gender procumbent process they said there should be the procumbent list as recommended by the auditor general in the report of 2014," said Akili.
Citizens castigated ZINWA for violating their right to water by charging exorbitant prices around $7 fixed charge more than that of the Capital city of Harare.
According to Akili Harare Municipality is charging $4 fixed water charges in high density suburbs unlike in Mvurwi ZINWA is charging $7 fixed charge.
Mvurwi residents representative Emmanuel Nkambala chaired the meeting and said council was invited but they paid a deaf ear since they label them as an opposition tool to the ruling ZANU PF.
