A man from Denver Farm in Umguza is in trouble for allegedly killing a neighbour following their dispute over a sex worker.
Zibusiso Khumalo (23) was not asked to plea to murder when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya on Thursday. He was remanded in custody to December 8.
The court heard that on October 10 this year Khumalo was in the company of his two friends who are still at large when they had a misunderstanding with the now deceased James Ndlovu over a sex worker.
A fist fight broke out between them resulting to Khumalo producing an Okapi Knife that he allegedly used to stab the now deceased twice on the chest.
Ndlovu ran away trying to seek help but suddenly collapsed and died. A report made to the police led to his arrest. When being questioned by the police he reportedly admitted stabbing Ndlovu saying he attacked him on self defence. He said Ndlovu had tried to attack him with an axe that is when he produced the knife and stabbed him in self defence.
A detective dealing with the case, Sergeant Tinomuda Maphosa in his affidavit indicated that according to his findings the accused and his colleagues wanted to take Ndlovu's lover which he challenged leading to the stabbing. He said a bloody stained knife used in the commission of the crime was recovered from the scene.
