A political analyst Vince Musewe has said the problems bedeviling Zimbabwe can only be resolved if the coalition of opposition win 2018 elections.
He said a simplistic view of Zimbabwe's problems is that they can be sorted out through a coalition winning 2018 elections.
"I beg to differ in that we must apply our minds on first the quality of leadership of that coalition and it's ability post an electoral win to put together a competent team to revive our economy and build new democratic institutions because without that we will inadvertently recreate the system we wish to expunge," he said.
"It is important that we have a new vision and new behaviour to create a new Zimbabwe. That will not be an easy task. Our current laws and institutions must be transformed by selfless endeavour and devolution of power starting by lessening Presidential powers and creating autonomous provincial structures which can create broad inclusive growth."
He asked if any new President would voluntarily whittle down their power?
"Will any new President consider loyalty to country first and not to party? Will any new team be drawn from our best who may not necessarily be politicians? These are the issues we should consider if we are to move from struggle politics to inclusive national politics which put country first," he said.
"I have not heard this coming from those who are seeking power nor have I heard this from blind followers of those in contestation to lead. We can only create a new Zimbabwe through new dialogues which reject the past and those who have been complicit in creating it. I pray that new paradigms and new players will emerge before 2018. We need a new approach a new beginning and an end to seeking power for its own sake. The baggage from the past cannot be wished away and yet it will continue to limit what we can become!"
