Over 200 former Cotton Printers Company employees in Bulawayo who were retrenched in 2009 have revived their lawsuit against the company in which they are seeking an order compelling their former employer to pay them a total of $4,7 million as their packages.

Former workers sometime obtained writ of execution to attach property to recover their money but were blocked by a clandestine deed of settlement which was fraudulently drawn by one of the senior management at the company.

Cotton Printers (Pvt) Ltd is a subsidiary of the Meikles Limited Company. It had failed to fulfill the High Court order case number HC 35637/11 to pay them packages totalling to $4, 750 817, 48 and $ 96 990,38.

They said employer crafted a deed of settlement to mislead judges. Nickson Tala a manager was arrested and convicted over the fraudulent deed of settlement.

In September 30 they revived their fight by filing a court application at the Bulawayo High Court to invalidate the deed of settlement.

Deneack Tafamba prayed that the deed of settlement be declared invalid.

The company is yet to challenge the lawsuit.
