Civil servants will have to wait a bit longer to find out if they will be award bonuses this year.

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Priscilla Mupfumira is quoted by state media saying nothing has been agreed and finalised.

"At the moment there is nothing, we will notify you of the dates or any other development concerning that issue," she said.

A few months ago, Finance minister Patrick Chimanasa announced the suspension of bonuses for two years, a development that exposed government divisions.

Information minister Chris Mushohwe quickly dismissed Chinamasa's announcement saying Cabinet had never agreed on that.

Mupfumira added that government is still mobilising funds for bonuses.

Civil servants got their 2015 bonuses early this year, in batches.

However, Chinamasa is expected to shed more light when he delivers the 2017 national budget this week.

Civil servants are most likely to receive the controversial bond notes as bonuses.
