The Meteorological Services Department has dismissed predictions of a drought next year, saying the dry spell experienced in different parts of the country over the past few weeks is expected to end Sunday
Forecasts indicate that heavy showers from Kariba will spread across the country starting Sunday.
Senior meteorological officer Mr Jonathan Chifunya said Zimbabweans should brace for a prolonged rainfall period.
"We expect the dry spell to come to an end starting tomorrow (Sunday) with normal rainfall expected in many areas across the country," he said.
Latest statistics from the department show that the northern regions of the country, including Kariba and Victoria Falls, have so far received the highest rainfall of about 30 millimetres.
The forecast shows that while areas such a Mount Darwin and Rushinga are likely to receive rains late, the second half of the season is expected to receive normal-to-above-normal rains.
