A 10 kilogram of donated beans sparked a fight between Chitungwiza male neighbours, a magistrate heard.
Magistrate Takunda Mutetwa heard that an unnamed Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) donated food to Tariro Mukuvasi.
However, Mukuvasi's neighbour James Fambai allegedly demanded the beans, igniting a fist fight.
Said Mukuvasi in court :"He consented to public violence charges because he is the one who assaulted me.
"I never fought with him, he came and took the 10 kg bag of beans which I had been given to me and my family and when I asked him why he was doing that that was when he started assaulting me,".
Fambai said he fought with Tariro because they had a misunderstanding over donations.
"The police arrested both of us, I was not the one who reported the case to the police. The only reason why he is now denying that we fought is because I over powered him during the fight," he said.
