Police hunt for 8-men gang after gold robbery

The Zimbabwe Republic Police Criminal Investigations Department, Zvishavane is hunting for an 8-men gang that robbed complainants of gold carbon valued at US$50 000 and a Toyota Dyna (registration number ABO 4182) valued at US$8000.
A reward of US$5000 is being offered to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the gold carbon.
In a statement, the Midlands CID Acting Provincial Community Relations and Liaison Officer, Detective Assistant Inspector Portia Chinho said the complainants intended to deliver 400kgs of pregnant gold carbon from Ebo Mine in Mberengwa to a mine in West Nicholson when a Honda CRV vehicle blocked the way and eight male adults armed with knives bolted out and threatened them.
The two complainants were blindfolded and had their hands tied before they were bundled into a car and later dumped at a mountain in Danga, Mberengwa.
The police is appealing to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the gang to contact CID Zvishavane on 051 2198, Detective Sergeant Sibanda on 0773 255 646 or contact any nearest police station.
The ZRP CID is however, urging all members of public especially the business community to ensure that they exercise due diligence when transporting valuables such as minerals.
