The criminal court in Beitbridge will soon have a regional magistrate because there is enough space to accommodate more staff at the newly completed complex.

This was confirmed by Chief Magistrate Mishrod Guvamomabe in an interview with The Mirror after the criminal court was moved to new premises behind Baobab Complex.

"This is an important development because there is now enough space for the magistrates, prosecutors and everyone to work from.
"Since there is more space and offices, we are looking forward to appointing a permanent regional magistrate for Beitbridge," said Guvamombe.
Langton Mukwengi who was transferred from Mutare will be the resident magistrate taking over from Gloria Takundwa who was recently transferred to Nyanga.

The building has 11 offices, two court rooms and the cell parlor where prisoners will be kept waiting for trial.
Before the construction of the new court the three magistrates were taking turns to use the court and times they had to use their offices as court rooms.

The new court will serve as the criminal court while the old one will be turned into a civil court.  Beitbridge Town Secretary Loud Ramagkapola welcomed the new court opening.

"I think this is a positive development since the court will be accessed by all as it is now centrally situated," he said.
