In a bizarre incident, a Mvurwi man divorced his wife after her father planted a root in his yard, which allegedly turned into a goblin, chief Makope heard on Sunday.
According to Chief Makope's guard who declined to be named, Smart Mubvunda of Donje farm in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central, divorced his wife Janet Mumba after his father in-law John Mumba planted a root that apparently tormented the love birds.
"Mubvunda complained of having nightmares and he visited apostles who told him that his in-law Mumba planted a root in his yard."
It is alleged Mubvunda initially ignored the suggestion but when his livestock started dying mysteriously he decided to react.
Presiding over the case, Chief Makope ordered Mumba to remove the goblin which he planted on Mubvumba's homestead.
