A 21-year old Darwendale man was trapped to death in a shaft by heavy rains in Mashonaland West province
It is alleged Tatenda Mafigu was working with his colleagues in Darwendale mine on 20 December when he was ordered to go and get a shovel that they had forgotten in the shaft by his superior.
Heavy rains poured whilst Mafigu was inside and he was trapped to death.
His decomposed body was retrieved on Christmas day and he was buried at Tara store in Mutorashanga.
However, eye witnesses suspect foul play in his death.
"The death of Mafigu is very strange and sad why his superior sent him in the shaft knowing fully well that heavy rains were coming.
He left behind a pregnant girlfriend whom he wanted to marry in 2017 this is really a sad scenario," lamented the source.
