ELEVEN witnesses are due to testify against Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Walter Magaya during his rape trial starting at the High Court on February 20.

Magaya is accused of raping a 25-year-old former PHD Ministries congregant.

According to the Herald, the woman was raped after accepting an invitation from Magaya to visit him at his house. The prophet is said to have then given her $200. The woman reported the incident to her boyfriend in July 2015.

However, in November last year, she tried to withdraw the charges claiming she was being threatened with unspecified action by unidentified people who did not want the trial to go ahead.

The prosecution refused to drop the rape charges, prompting Magaya's lawyers to refer the case to the Constitutional Court.

The application was granted and a decision on the constitutionality of prosecuting a rape suspect following the withdrawal of a report by the complainant will be made.
