Prime Minster Morgan Tsvangirai will on Thursday deliver his End of Year Statement in Parliament. He is expected to touch on a number of issues especially the performance of key government ministries and government programmes that have been undertaken this year and his expectations for the year 2012.
Meanwhile, the trial of Costin Muguti, the MDC-T Midlands North provincial chairperson and Gokwe Kabuyuni MP and Rodgers Tazviona, the MP for Zhombe who are facing charges of threatening to assault Chief Samuel Samambwa resumed at the Kwekwe Magistrates' Courts today.
The two legislators are being charged with seven other MDC-T activists from Zhombe.
During today's trial the court watched a 20 minute video clip which was shot the day the activists went to Chief Samambwa. The footage shows a conversation between Chief Samambwa and the MDC-T activists in connection, with the confiscation of MDC-T regalia from party supporters in the area.
The first witness was a Zanu-PF, councillor, Enerst Madharani of Ward 6 in Zhombe who was cross examined by Reginald Chidawanyika who is representing the MDC-T activists.
Madharani failed to identify any accused from the video clip and the voices citing poor eyesight. He however claimed that Chief Samambwa was threatened with death and the environment was hostile, yet the video shows a seated Chief Samambwa shaking hands and laughing with the MDC-T activists at his homestead.
Chidawanyika said that the charges were fabricated and Madharani was not there when the MDC-T activists visited the chief's homestead. The MDC-T activists were arrested early this year and spent more than a month in remand prison before being released on bail.
