The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Women's Desk has embarked on the Woman Owned Brand label campaign to foster an increase in demand for goods and services from women owned businesses.
According to its statement such goods and services will show the Woman Owned Brand logo availed only to certified women owned businesses.
"This program will empower women entrepreneurs, support their access to markets and facilitate opportunities for growth and scaling so they play an
active role in the Zimbabwean economy. International research reveals women now drive the global economy, controlling over 80% of global spending,"
reads the statement.
"Developing countries have an estimated ten million formal SMEs with at least one female owner. The Woman Owned Brand aims to increase women
entrepreneurs' capacity to tap into corporate supply chains and international markets for sustainable women owned businesses. In 2017,
lookout for women-owned companies empowered to differentiate themselves in the market, access higher consumer demand, receive special training,
resources and opportunities to secure procurement contracts."
ZNCC said participating retailers, wholesalers and corporations in Zimbabwe gain social responsibility benefits, customer recognition and loyalty
through supplying and promoting verified products.
"Consumers benefit from having additional information about their choices and being empowered to show their support for women in business. If you are
a manufacturer, retailer, service provider or consumer, play your role in empowering women in business by supporting this exciting Woman Owned Brand label campaign," ZNCC said.
