The South African government has deported 6 500 Zimbabweans who failed to regularize their papers.
The Assistant Regional Immigration Officer at the Beitbridge Border post Charles Gwede said the deportations started on the 7th of October.
Mr Gwede said although South Africa promised that a transparent verification process will be conducted before deporting illegal immigrants this has not been the case.
Meanwhile, Officer Commanding Beitbridge District Chief Superintendent Lawrence Chinhengo said the deportation exercise is proving futile as some immediately return to South Africa.
Superintendent Chinhengo added that of those deported 65 were ex-convicts.
